Made Green in the USA: In2green wins ASID Award
The in2green booth at NYNOW was a buzz with friends, like Al jokingly posing on a 50×60″ cotton rich, eco throw blanket, and multiple stores and brands looking at the latest eco-friendly knit, home-furnishing and apparel accessories.
Just when we least expected it, a group of accomplished judges selected by ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) came by for a look…and with more than 20,000 products to choose, they chose In2green as “Best of the Best”!
Admittedly, we were pretty surprised to be recognized in such a public way, wine, press conference etc…but it did feel great!
Not only did we get a shiny plaque but the judges congratulated us for “outstanding product design” and specifically focused the award on our social responsibility and ecological sensitivity.
For us, this was a great moment. For seven years, since we started in2green, we have struggled as designers and product developers to re-invent traditional products in new more creative and ecologically responsible ways.
We have always felt strongly that using sustainable materials for our displays (local recycled barn wood) and recycled cotton blend yarns for our knits that we are making our own small difference. It was so good to see ASID thought so too.
We are reminded daily of the economic challenges of trying to be “made green in the USA”. It is a battle that all USA Made companies face. We do find it wonderfully refreshing to be so openly acknowledged and know that our great customers also appreciate our efforts.
Thank you ASID for this lovely award! For more information read Home Textiles.
