It’s a Man’s Man’s World
With Father’s Day around the corner, a little revamping at home could do the trick to show you’re thinking of him. When decorating a man’s space, dark tones, leather sofas, sleek accents and the like often first come to mind. There are a multitude of other design trends for creating a more masculine space too, with some drawing on naturalistic details, and others incorporating contemporary design tropes. Whether it’s adding a touch of sophistication to the bachelor pad, or bringing warmth with rich neutrals to the bedroom, we’ll take a hint from James Brown– it’s a man’s man’s world..
Leaf me alone. Foliage motifs are no longer limited to flirty summer frocks and floral bed linens, but rather marked by an almost rustic hipster-ness, now manifest in denim jackets and knitted eco throws. Cascading fall foliage can be transformed into a camouflage-like pattern, or into mod geometrics.

Herringbone heaven. Herringbones have been emblematic of both polished masculinity and an outdoorsy sensibility. Hunting, fly-fishing, and horseback riding are just a few activities where herringbone motifs have prevailed. Adorning caps, blazers, scarves, and throws, this classic print moves from the wardrobe to the living space with ease.
Seeing stripes. The simple yet elegant, classic stripe is a subtle example of masculine detailing. Timeless and refined, stripes line pillows and throws, and transition seamlessly into dapper suits and pinstriped shirts. From casual to sophisticated, from day to night, this motif is always à la mode.
